Shenyang Fantawild Adventure, one of the largest theme parks in Northeast China, received visitors with carefully designed events and strict COVID-19 precautions during the Labor Day holiday that began on April 30.

During the five-day break, the theme park in the northeastern province of Liaoning adorned itself with 12 sets of giant inflatable flowers measuring up to 8 meters tall. They became perfect backdrops for photos, grabbing the attention of passersby.

In addition to an array of performances including magic tricks, dances and plays, visitors were treated to a dazzling display of "fire dragons and iron flowers", a type of folk performance involving the spraying of molten iron.

This year, Shenyang Fantawild Adventure launched Idiom World, an immersive family game that is "fun as well as educational", according to the park.

A representative of the park said it has scheduled more themed events for the coming months, including a couples' night on May 20-an unofficial Valentine's Day celebrated in China-and a parent-child event themed around popular Chinese animation Boonie Bears, in an effort to "seize the opportunities brought by a rebound of the culture and tourism industries".

Since mid-April, the culture and tourism industries in Shenyang have begun to see a recovery from COVID-19-forced lockdowns in the city.

Shenyang Fantawild Adventure, which reopened on April 28, requires that visitors wear face masks, have their temperatures taken and present their health code and a negative COVID-19 test result before entering, according to the park.

After entering the park, visitors are required to stay at least 1 meter away from each other when they are waiting in line or sat on rides.

All services are provided on a zero-contact basis. All the food and beverage storefronts in the park disinfect their floors every two hours and take payments without making contact with customers.

The park has also adopted an online ticketing system where the purchasers are required to use their real names.
