May 3: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On May 2, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 384 new cases of confirmed infections (16 imported cases, 6 in Fujian province, 5 in Sichuan province, 3 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and 2 in Guangdong province, including 2 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases in Fujian province; 368 indigenous cases, 274 in Shanghai municipality, 51 in Beijing municipality, 13 in Heilongjiang province, 7 in Guangdong province, 5 in Liaoning province, 5 in Jiangxi province, 3 in Fujian province, 3 in Shandong province, 2 in Shanxi province, 2 in Henan province, 1 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 1 in Chongqing municipality and 1 in Sichuan province, including 164 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 155 in Shanghai municipality, 3 in Beijing municipality, 2 in Liaoning province, 2 in Guangdong province, 1 in Shanxi province and 1 in Chongqing municipality), 20 deaths (all were indigenous cases in Shanghai municipality), and 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Shanghai municipality).

On May 2, 4,271 patients were released from hospital after being cured (8 imported cases; 4,263 indigenous cases, 3,981 in Shanghai municipality, 151 in Jilin province, 30 in Heilongjiang province, 23 in Zhejiang province, 19 in Guangdong province, 18 in Jiangxi province, 12 in Jiangsu province, 5 in Fujian province, 5 in Henan province, 5 in Qinghai province, 4 in Shanxi province, 3 in Beijing municipality, 2 in Hunan province, 1 in Hebei province, 1 in Liaoning province, 1 in Shandong province, 1 in Hainan province and 1 in Yunnan province). 40,523 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases increased by 39.

As of 24:00 on May 2, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 18,216 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 18,048 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 168 confirmed cases (no serious cases) and 1 suspected case.

As of 24:00 on May 2, the National Health Commission had received reports of 217,836 confirmed cases and 5,112 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 196,458 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 16,266 confirmed cases (including 615 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case. 3,512,074 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 469,104 were still under medical observation.

On May 2, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 5,690 new asymptomatic cases (43 imported cases; 5,647 indigenous cases, 5,395 in Shanghai municipality, 79 in Liaoning province, 34 in Zhejiang province, 29 in Jiangxi province, 26 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 21 in Jilin province, 13 in Jiangsu province, 11 in Beijing municipality, 11 in Shandong province, 10 in Heilongjiang province, 5 in Hebei province, 5 in Guangdong province, 4 in Henan province, 2 in Yunnan province, 1 in Anhui province and 1 in Chongqing municipality).

On May 2, 28,045 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (67 imported cases; 27,978 indigenous cases, 27,121 in Shanghai municipality, 459 in Jilin province, 97 in Hebei province, 93 in Jiangsu province, 34 in Shandong province, 28 in Anhui province, 21 in Jiangxi province, 19 in Heilongjiang province, 18 in Yunnan province, 14 in Shanxi province, 13 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 12 in Fujian province, 12 in Hubei province, 11 in Zhejiang province, 8 in Henan province, 7 in Liaoning province, 6 in Guangdong province, 2 in Qinghai province, 2 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region and 1 in Beijing municipality). 166 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 2 imported cases). As of 24:00 on May 2, 133,610 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 516 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on May 2, 481,663 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 330,773 in Hong Kong (9,318 had died and 59,739 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 82 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 150,808 in Taiwan (871 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
