TOP 10 copyright holders unveiled for 2021

The Copyright Protection Center of China in Beijing announced its list of TOP 10 Copyright Holders for 2021 on Saturday, the World Book and Copyright Day.

The annual selection activity since 2008 aims to encourage the creation of good works, promote copyright licensing and to create a good atmosphere for copyright protection.

This year's list includes the Military Museum of the Chinese People's Revolution, the National Center for the Performing Arts, the research institute at major telecom carrier China Unicom, the China Youth Publishing Group, the Writers Publishing House, the Chinese font producing company Hanyi Fonts, the companies separately behind short-video platform Kuaishou and fitness app Keep, Tencent Penguin Pictures, and the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) royal costumes scholar and designer Bi Hong.

Wu Shulin, head of the Publishers Association of China, said at the news conference, that advocating reading and copyright protection is a shared duty of people working in the publishing and copyright work circles.

He called for more attention on the national reading campaign and copyright protection, and more promotion on creation and diffusion of knowledge.

Yan Xiaohong, head of the Copyright Society of China, said China should improve the copyright work mechanisms, strengthen copyright protection on the whole chain of the industry, effectively cope with new challenges with the development and use of new technologies, including big data, artificial intelligence and blockchain, and promote the social awareness of copyright.
