Sanya ranks 1st in most popular travel destinations on Tuniu

According to the travel data of Tuniu, an online leisure travel company in China, Hainan and Sanya ranked first in the list of the most popular travel destinations among provinces and cities respectively in the first quarter of 2022.

In addition, the latest data released by Sanya customs shows that it supervised 11.08 billion yuan ($1.71 billion) in offshore duty-free shopping volume in the first quarter of the year, an increase of 6.6 percent year-on–year, while the actual number of duty-free shopping consumers in that period was nearly 1.1 million, up 2.4 percent.

Hainan is China's only tropical island province, while Sanya is its most famous travel destination. The prosperous tourism market has brought together hundreds of mid-to-high-end hotels in resort areas like Sanya Bay, Dadonghai, Yalong Bay, and Haitang Bay.

According to Tuniu's travel data, Howard Johnson Guoguang Resort Hotel Sanya, Sanya Haiyun Hotel, Sanya Tianyu Resort Hotel, and Mangrove Tree Resort World Sanya Bay ranked first, fourth, fifth, and ninth respectively in the list of most popular hotels in the first quarter of 2022. Both the number of the listed hotels in Sanya and their popularity reflect the popularity of Hainan tourism.
