On April 9, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 1,351 new cases of confirmed infections (33 imported cases, 9 in Shanghai municipality, 7 in Guangdong province, 5 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 4 in Sichuan province, 3 in Fujian province, 1 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Liaoning province, 1 in Shandong province and 1 in Yunnan province, including 1 confirmed case converting from an asymptomatic case in Guangdong province; 1,318 indigenous cases, 1,006 in Shanghai municipality including 513 in Pudong New Area, 103 in Huangpu district, 86 in Minhang district, 45 in Jinshan district, 43 in Xuhui district, 35 in Baoshan district, 32 in Yangpu district, 29 in Changning district, 25 in Putuo district, 24 in Jing’an district, 21 in Jiading district, 13 in Fengxian district, 12 in Hongkou district, 10 in Songjiang district, 9 in Qingpu district and 6 in Chongming district, 242 in Jilin province including 175 in Changchun, 65 in Jilin city and 2 in Baicheng, 16 in Zhejiang province including 7 in Hangzhou, 5 in Jiaxing, 3 in Ningbo and 1 in Lishui, 10 in Guangzhou, Guangdong province, 9 in Fujian province including 8 in Quanzhou and 1 in Ningde, 6 in Sanya, Hainan province, 5 in Taiyuan, Shanxi province, 5 in Jiangsu province including 3 in Nanjing, 1 in Xuzhou and 1 in Suzhou, 3 in Beijing municipality including 2 in Chaoyang district and 1 in Shunyi district, 3 in Hebei province including 2 in Handan and 1 in Chengde, 3 in Nanchang, Jiangxi province, 3 in Shandong province including 2 in Jinan and 1 in Jining, 2 in Chengdu, Sichuan province, 2 in Xi’an, Shaanxi province, 1 in Shenyang, Liaoning province, 1 in Mudanjiang, Heilongjiang province and 1 in Enshi Tujia and Miao autonomous prefecture, Hubei province, including 306 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 191 in Shanghai municipality, 90 in Jilin province, 10 in Zhejiang province, 5 in Fujian province, 4 in Hainan province, 2 in Shanxi province, 1 in Liaoning province, 1 in Shandong province, 1 in Guangdong province and 1 in Sichuan province), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 1,948 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 27,745 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases increased by 1.

As of 24:00 on April 9, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 17,861 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 17,432 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 429 confirmed cases (no serious cases) and 28 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on April 9, the National Health Commission had received reports of 164,393 confirmed cases and 4,638 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 137,166 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 22,589 confirmed cases (including 80 cases in serious condition) and 28 suspected cases. 2,656,970 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 453,555 were still under medical observation.

As of 24:00 on April 9, 195,948 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 927 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on April 9, 335,093 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 308,175 in Hong Kong (8,705 had died and 57,992 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 82 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 26,836 in Taiwan (854 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
