Tongnan district of Chongqing is a famous land of oilseed rape. Every March, rapeseed flowers of nearly 1,000 varieties are in full bloom in Tongnan’s Chongkan town. The town’s scenic area of rapeseed flowers is the only one in China where tourists can take a boat admiring the stunning scenery. From the top of the Chentuan Mountains, tourists can also see a motif of Tai Chi with the 236-meter diameter against the backdrop of golden rapeseed flowers and wheat.
The scenic area in Tongnan is hailed as “one of China’s most beautiful seas of rapeseed flowers.” Every year in March or April, a flower festival is held in the district, with 2,000 hectares of golden rapeseed flowers presenting magnificent views and attracting many visitors. The festival also promotes the development of rural tourism in Tongnan.
