Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, recently implemented various measures to help people from Taiwan invest, work and live in the city.

According to the measures, people from Taiwan will enjoy equal rights with other Guiyang residents when it comes to purchasing houses, social insurance and medical treatment.

Taiwan investors and companies will enjoy preferential taxation and investment policies and be incentivized to invest in companies involved in high-end manufacturing, intelligent manufacturing, green manufacturing, big data and finance.

Taiwan companies are also encouraged to invest in agricultural sectors such as vegetables, fruit, tea, medicine, dairy, agricultural product processing, and the modern seed industry.

Guiyang will evaluate the R&D activities of solely Taiwan-owned companies to offer R&D subsidies of up to 5 million yuan ($786,298) according to their pre-tax R&D investment.

Taiwan companies that have recently been recognized as municipal, provincial or national technology company incubators can receive subsidies of 300,000 yuan, 500,000 yuan and 800,000 yuan, respectively.

Taiwan companies that have recently been recognized as provincial, municipal or national maker spaces can receive subsidies of 200,000 yuan, 300,000 yuan and 500,000 yuan, respectively. They will also receive annual business operation subsidies of up to 200,000 yuan according to their business performance.

People from Taiwan who legally invest in or obtain employment in Guiyang can enroll their children in local kindergartens, primary schools, middle schools, and high schools.

People from Taiwan who have labor relationships with resident companies in Guiyang or Guian New Area can deposit housing provident funds, and those who are self-employed in Guiyang or Guian can deposit housing provident funds if they meet certain requirements.

Taiwan residents who have already deposited housing provident funds can draw, use or transfer the funds.

Statistics show that by December 2021, Guiyang and Guian had 319 registered Taiwan-owned companies involved in electronic information, seed and breeding, and catering.
