Feb 28: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Feb 27, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 234 new cases of confirmed infections (147 imported cases, 53 in Guangdong province, 45 in Shanghai municipality, 20 in Beijing municipality, 11 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 4 in Fujian province, 4 in Shandong province, 3 in Heilongjiang province, 3 in Sichuan province, 2 in Henan province, 1 in Jiangsu province and 1 in Yunnan province, including 13 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 10 in Guangdong and 3 in Sichuan; 87 indigenous cases, 40 in Guangdong including 30 in Shenzhen and 10 in Dongguan, 11 in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 11 in Fangchenggang, Guangxi, 9 in Tianjin municipality including 7 in Binhai New Area, 1 in Dongli district and 1 in Beichen district, 5 in Wuhan, Hubei province, 4 in Shanxi province including 2 in Taiyuan and 2 in Jinzhong, 4 in Heilongjiang including 3 in Mudanjiang and 1 in Heihe, 2 in Lincang, Yunnan and 1 in Huludao, Liaoning province), 5 new cases of suspected infections (all were imported cases in Shanghai), and no deaths. 68 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 2,601 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases increased by 2.

As of 24:00 on Feb 27, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 14,339 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 12,814 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,525 confirmed cases (including 1 case in serious condition) and 6 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Feb 27, the National Health Commission had received reports of 109,326 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 101,936 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 2,754 confirmed cases (including 21 cases in serious condition) and 6 suspected cases. 1,633,142 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 75,068 were still under medical observation.

On Feb 27, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 114 new asymptomatic cases (61 imported cases; 53 indigenous cases, 25 in Guangdong including 18 in Dongguan, 6 in Shenzhen and 1 in Guangzhou, 21 in Yunnan including 17 in Lincang, 3 in Honghe Hani and Yi autonomous prefecture and 1 in Dehong Dai and Jingpo autonomous prefecture, 3 in Heihe, Heilongjiang, 1 in Binhai New Area, Tianjin, 1 in Jinzhong, Shanxi, 1 in Jiading district, Shanghai and 1 in Mianyang, Sichuan). 19 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (16 were imported cases) and 13 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (all were imported cases). As of 24:00 on Feb 27, 1,006 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 765 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Feb 27, 89,365 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 68,851 in Hong Kong (659 had died and 18,236 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 81 in Macao (79 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 20,433 in Taiwan (853 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
