Feb 20: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Feb 19, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 195 new cases of confirmed infections (94 imported cases, 32 in Guangdong province, 23 in Shanghai municipality, 13 in Jiangsu province, 6 in Beijing municipality, 4 in Fujian province, 3 in Zhejiang province, 3 in Shandong province, 3 in Gansu province, 2 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 2 in Sichuan province, 1 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Liaoning province and 1 in Hubei province, including 3 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 2 in Guangdong and 1 in Sichuan; 101 indigenous cases, 65 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region including 63 in Hohhot and 2 in Baotou, 16 in Suzhou, Jiangsu, 9 in Huludao, Liaoning, 8 in Shenzhen, Guangdong and 3 in Honghe Hani and Yi autonomous prefecture, Yunnan province), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 55 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 1,641 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 1.

As of 24:00 on Feb 19, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 13,399 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 12,570 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 829 confirmed cases (including 1 case in serious condition) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Feb 19, the National Health Commission had received reports of 107,707 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 101,449 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,622 confirmed cases (including 7 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 1,578,614 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 33,991 were still under medical observation.

On Feb 19, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 39 new asymptomatic cases (35 imported cases; 4 indigenous cases, 2 in Luzhou, Sichuan, 1 in Baotou, Inner Mongolia and 1 in Chengmai county, Hainan province). 43 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 42 imported cases) and 3 (imported cases) became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Feb 19, 687 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 582 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Feb 19, 42,144 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 22,128 in Hong Kong (276 had died and 15,963 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 79 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 19,937 in Taiwan (852 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
