Feb 19: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Feb 18, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 137 new cases of confirmed infections (57 imported cases, 22 in Guangdong province, 18 in Shanghai municipality, 4 in Beijing municipality, 3 in Tianjin municipality, 3 in Liaoning province, 2 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 2 in Sichuan province, 1 in Zhejiang province, 1 in Shandong province and 1 in Yunnan province, including 6 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 4 in Guangdong, 1 in Zhejiang and 1 in Sichuan; 80 indigenous cases, 46 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region including 42 in Hohhot and 4 in Baotou, 19 in Suzhou, Jiangsu province, 8 in Huludao, Liaoning, 3 in Shenzhen, Guangdong, 3 in Yunnan including 2 in Dehong Dai and Jingpo autonomous prefecture and 1 in Honghe Hani and Yi autonomous prefecture, and 1 in Shaoxing, Zhejiang, including 8 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 6 in Jiangsu and 2 in Yunnan), 4 new cases of suspected infections (all were imported cases in Shanghai), and no deaths. 78 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 2,772 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases increased by 1.

As of 24:00 on Feb 18, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 13,305 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 12,541 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 764 confirmed cases (including 1 case in serious condition) and 4 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Feb 18, the National Health Commission had received reports of 107,512 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 101,394 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,482 confirmed cases (including 8 cases in serious condition) and 4 suspected cases. 1,573,894 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 30,913 were still under medical observation.

On Feb 18, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 37 new asymptomatic cases (22 imported cases; 15 indigenous cases, 9 in Jiangsu including 7 in Suzhou and 2 in Wuxi, 4 in Dehong Dai and Jingpo autonomous prefecture, Yunnan, and 2 in Heihe, Heilongjiang province). 35 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 29 imported cases) and 14 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 6 imported cases). As of 24:00 on Feb 18, 694 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 592 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Feb 18, 41,693 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 21,750 in Hong Kong (258 had died and 15,699 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 79 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 19,864 in Taiwan (852 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
