State Council approves construction of park city demonstration zone in Chengdu

The State Council has approved Chengdu to construct a park city demonstration zone, according to an official reply released on Feb 10.

Putting emphasis on new development and people-oriented concepts, the circular required advancing both construction of an ecological civilization and economic and social development, while promoting a city landscape interwoven with park scenery, in the construction of the demonstration zone.

It urged the government of Sichuan province to take on a leadership role, specify its tasks and increase oversight of construction work in the whole process.

All departments of the State Council, including the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of National Resources, and the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, should cooperate with the Sichuan government to do a sound job, the circular said.
