Feb 6: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Feb 5, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 43 new cases of confirmed infections (30 imported cases, 12 in Shanghai municipality, 7 in Guangdong province, 3 in Fujian province, 3 in Sichuan province, 2 in Zhejiang province, 1 in Jiangsu province, 1 in Henan province and 1 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, including 9 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 3 in Sichuan, 2 in Zhejiang, 1 in Jiangsu, 1 in Henan, 1 in Guangdong and 1 in Guangxi; 13 indigenous cases, 6 in Baise, Guangxi, 2 in Hebei district, Tianjin municipality, 2 in Langfang, Hebei province, 1 in Chaoyang district, Beijing municipality, 1 in Shaoyang, Hunan province and 1 in Huizhou, Guangdong), 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Shanghai), and no deaths. 104 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 1,491 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.

As of 24:00 on Feb 5, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 12,714 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 12,020 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 694 confirmed cases (including 1 case in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Feb 5, the National Health Commission had received reports of 106,340 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 100,194 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,510 confirmed cases (including 6 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases. 1,543,306 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 42,981 were still under medical observation.

On Feb 5, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 40 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 63 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 62 imported cases) and 9 (imported cases) became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Feb 5, 855 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 747 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Feb 5, 33,668 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 14,488 in Hong Kong (213 had died and 12,987 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 79 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 19,101 in Taiwan (851 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
