Feb 5: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Feb 4, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 27 new cases of confirmed infections (18 imported cases, 7 in Shanghai municipality, 4 in Guangdong province, 2 in Zhejiang province, 2 in Henan province, 2 in Yunnan province and 1 in Tianjin municipality, including 6 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 2 in Zhejiang, 2 in Henan and 2 in Guangdong; 9 indigenous cases, 6 in Guangdong including 2 in Shenzhen, 2 in Huizhou and 2 in Yunfu, 2 in Hebei district, Tianjin and 1 in Fengtai district, Beijing municipality, including 1 confirmed case converting from an asymptomatic case in Guangdong), no suspected cases, and no deaths. 129 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 1,820 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases remained the same.

As of 24:00 on Feb 4, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 12,684 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 11,963 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 721 confirmed cases (including 1 case in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Feb 4, the National Health Commission had received reports of 106,297 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 100,090 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,571 confirmed cases (including 6 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases. 1,541,240 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 42,419 were still under medical observation.

On Feb 4, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 60 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 35 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 30 imported cases) and 7 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 6 imported cases). As of 24:00 on Feb 4, 887 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 778 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Feb 4, 33,343 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 14,235 in Hong Kong (213 had died and 12,916 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 79 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 19,029 in Taiwan (851 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
