Feb 3: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Feb 2, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 39 new cases of confirmed infections (18 imported cases, 9 in Shanghai municipality, 4 in Guangdong province, 2 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Henan province and 1 in Yunnan province, including 1 confirmed case converting from an asymptomatic case in Henan; 21 indigenous cases, 9 in Tianjin including 3 in Hebei district, 2 in Hedong district, 2 in Hongqiao district and 2 in Binhai New Area, 9 in Guangdong including 4 in Shenzhen, 4 in Yunfu and 1 in Huizhou, 2 in Beijing including 1 in Fengtai district and 1 in Daxing district, and 1 in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, including 3 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases in Guangdong), no suspected cases, and no deaths. 100 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 6,824 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 1.

As of 24:00 on Feb 2, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 12,649 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 11,873 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 776 confirmed cases (including 1 case in serious condition) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Feb 2, the National Health Commission had received reports of 106,241 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 99,864 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,741 confirmed cases (including 8 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 1,536,152 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 40,589 were still under medical observation.

On Feb 2, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 96 new asymptomatic cases (95 imported cases; 1 indigenous case in Shenzhen, Guangdong). 47 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 42 imported cases) and 4 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 1 imported case). As of 24:00 on Feb 2, 855 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 740 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Feb 2, 32,894 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 13,912 in Hong Kong (213 had died and 12,826 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 79 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 18,903 in Taiwan (851 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
