HAIKOU -- The Hainan International Cultural Heritage and Art Exchange was unveiled on Friday in Sanya, South China's island province of Hainan.

Covering an area of some 90,000 square meters, the exchange is located in the resort city's central business district. It aims to introduce international standards to the exhibitions, exchanges and auctions of artworks and tradeable cultural relics, and provide an open, professional and efficient platform.

China aims to build Hainan into an international tourism and consumption center by 2025, and a globally influential tourism and consumption destination by 2035.

Sanya's Mayor Bao Hongwen said the exchange will further optimize exchange services including auction, exhibition and storage, and become a showcase of the city's efforts to build itself into a core area of the international tourism and consumption center.
