Jan 25: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Jan 24, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 45 new cases of confirmed infections (27 imported cases, 10 in Shanghai municipality, 5 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 4 in Yunnan province, 3 in Beijing municipality, 3 in Zhejiang province and 2 in Guangdong province, including 5 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 2 in Zhejiang, 2 in Guangxi and 1 in Guangdong; 18 indigenous cases, 6 in Ili Kazak autonomous prefecture, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 5 in Beijing including 4 in Fengtai district and 1 in Chaoyang district, 3 in Anyang, Henan province, 2 in Xiong’an New Area, Hebei province, 1 in Jinnan district, Tianjin municipality and 1 in Fengxian district, Shanghai), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 183 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 4,057 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 2.

As of 24:00 on Jan 24, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 12,416 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 11,338 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,078 confirmed cases (without cases in serious condition) and 6 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Jan 24, the National Health Commission had received reports of 105,705 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 98,453 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 2,616 confirmed cases (including 9 cases in serious condition) and 6 suspected cases. 1,503,506 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 43,568 were still under medical observation.

On Jan 24, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 43 new asymptomatic cases (25 imported cases; 18 indigenous cases, 16 in Ili Kazak autonomous prefecture, Xinjiang, 1 in Fengtai district, Beijing and 1 in Shenyang, Liaoning province). 27 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 25 imported cases) and 5 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (all were imported cases). As of 24:00 on Jan 24, 747 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 671 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Jan 24, 31,559 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 13,104 in Hong Kong (213 had died and 12,602 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 79 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 18,376 in Taiwan (851 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
