Jan 24: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Jan 23, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 57 new cases of confirmed infections (39 imported cases, 22 in Shanghai municipality, 5 in Guangdong province, 2 in Tianjin municipality, 2 in Zhejiang province, 2 in Fujian province, 2 in Sichuan province, 2 in Yunnan province, 1 in Beijing municipality and 1 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, including 4 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 2 in Zhejiang, 1 in Guangdong and 1 in Guangxi; 18 indigenous cases, 6 in Beijing including 4 in Fengtai district, 1 in Fangshan district and 1 in Daxing district, 3 in Xiong’an New Area, Hebei province, 3 in Xishuangbanna Dai autonomous prefecture, Yunnan, 2 in Jinan, Shandong province, 1 in Jinnan district, Tianjin, 1 in Datong, Shanxi province, 1 in Anyang, Henan province and 1 in Zhuhai, Guangdong, including 2 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 1 in Beijing and 1 in Guangdong), 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Shanghai), and no deaths. 223 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 4,903 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases increased by 1.

As of 24:00 on Jan 23, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 12,389 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 11,285 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,104 confirmed cases (no cases in serious condition) and 7 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Jan 23, the National Health Commission had received reports of 105,660 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 98,270 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 2,754 confirmed cases (including 11 cases in serious condition) and 7 suspected cases. 1,502,026 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 46,145 were still under medical observation.

On Jan 23, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 27 new asymptomatic cases (22 imported cases; 5 indigenous cases, 2 in Beijing including 1 in Fengtai district and 1 in Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area, 2 in Ili Kazak autonomous prefecture, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region and 1 in Liaocheng, Shandong). 36 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and 6 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 4 imported cases). As of 24:00 on Jan 23, 736 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 676 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Jan 23, 31,438 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 13,034 in Hong Kong (213 had died and 12,572 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 79 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 18,325 in Taiwan (851 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
