Culture-themed, immersive gala aims to inspire

The first rehearsal of the annual CCTV Spring Festival Gala was held on Friday.

With performances such as singing, dancing and comic sketches, the gala aims to display the confidence of Chinese people through a festive atmosphere while also reflecting the dynamism of the new era.

It draws inspiration from traditional Chinese culture and the modern lives of Chinese people. It uses new technology like XR and VR to give the audience an immersive experience when watching the show.

An innovative stage design will make the field audience a part of the programs, and thus demonstrate the custom of family reunion during the festival.

The organizers have taken strict measures to protect against COVID-19 in an attempt to ensure the health of performers and audiences. In the coming week, several other rehearsals will be organized before its live telecast by China Central Television on Jan 31, the Chinese New Year's Eve.
