Jan 14: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Jan 13, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 201 new cases of confirmed infections (58 imported cases, 30 in Shanghai municipality, 9 in Guangdong province, 4 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 3 in Tianjin municipality, 3 in Liaoning province, 3 in Zhejiang province, 3 in Fujian province, 2 in Sichuan province, and 1 in Beijing municipality, including 8 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 3 in Zhejiang, 1 in Tianjin, 1 in Liaoning, 1 in Guangdong, 1 in Guangxi, and 1 in Sichuan; 143 indigenous cases, 98 in Henan province including 69 in Anyang, 25 in Xuchang and 4 in Zhengzhou, 34 in Tianjin including 28 in Jinnan district, 3 in Xiqing district, 2 in Hexi district and 1 in Hongqiao district, 8 in Xi’an, Shaanxi province, 2 in Shanghai including 1 in Putuo district and 1 in Baoshan district, and 1 in Zhongshan, Guangdong, including 1 confirmed case converting from an asymptomatic case in Tianjin), 9 new cases of suspected infections (all were imported cases in Shanghai), and no deaths. 230 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 2,136 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases increased by 1.

As of 24:00 on Jan 13, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 11,949 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 10,751 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,198 confirmed cases (including 2 cases in serious condition) and 13 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Jan 13, the National Health Commission had received reports of 104,580 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 96,513 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 3,431 confirmed cases (including 11 cases in serious condition) and 13 suspected cases. 1,469,816 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 48,806 were still under medical observation.

On Jan 13, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 42 new asymptomatic cases (38 imported cases; 4 indigenous cases, 3 in Shanghai including 2 in Putuo district and 1 in Jing’an district, and 1 in Xiqing district, Tianjin). 11 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and 9 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 8 imported cases). As of 24:00 on Jan 13, 748 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 693 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Jan 13, 30,555 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 12,852 in Hong Kong (213 had died and 12,327 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 79 in Macao (77 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 17,624 in Taiwan (851 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
