Salt lake turns pink in N China

Ever seen a pink lake? A salt lake in Yuncheng, North China’s Shanxi province has turned pink. It’s no mystery. Under certain conditions, a kind of halophilic green microalgae called dunaliella salina produces heme that changes the color of the lake to pink. Cool!
