Jan 12: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Jan 11, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 221 new cases of confirmed infections (55 imported cases, 20 in Shanghai municipality, 20 in Guangdong province, 4 in Tianjin municipality, 4 in Fujian province, 2 in Beijing municipality, 2 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 1 in Jiangsu province, 1 in Zhejiang province, and 1 in Sichuan province, including 4 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 2 in Beijing, 1 in Guangdong and 1 in Sichuan; 166 indigenous cases, 118 in Henan province including 65 in Anyang, 41 in Xuchang and 12 in Zhengzhou, 33 in Tianjin including 28 in Jinnan district, 3 in Xiqing district and 2 in Hexi district, 8 in Xi’an, Shaanxi province and 7 in Shenzhen, Guangdong), 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Shanghai), and no deaths. 203 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 2,699 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 7.

As of 24:00 on Jan 11, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 11,825 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 10,675 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,150 confirmed cases (including 2 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case.

As of 24:00 on Jan 11, the National Health Commission had received reports of 104,189 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 96,077 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 3,476 confirmed cases (including 14 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case. 1,463,589 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 47,638 were still under medical observation.

On Jan 11, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 32 new asymptomatic cases (28 imported cases; 4 indigenous cases including 3 in Jinnan district, Tianjin and 1 in Shenzhen, Guangdong). 25 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 24 imported cases) and 4 (imported cases) became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Jan 11, 724 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 681 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on Jan 11, 30,351 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 12,809 in Hong Kong (213 had died and 12,304 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 79 in Macao (77 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 17,463 in Taiwan (850 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
