Sanya: Hot destination for tourists during New Year holiday

During the 2022 New Year holiday that lasted from Jan 1 to 3, Sanya received 484,700 tourists. The tropical city tops the list of popular destinations, and Wuzhizhou Island, Yalong Bay and Nanshan rank among the top 10  popular scenic spots, according to Mafengwo, a Chinese tourism website.

During the past holiday, various scenic spots in Sanya have launched a variety of activities to attract tourists. In addition to traveling Nanshan to pray for blessings, thousands of spectators watched the first Sanya Island Music Season to celebrate the New Year. Meanwhile, Tianya Haijiao Scenic Spot, West Island Marine Cultural Tourism Zone, and Haichang Fantasy Town launched new tourism items, which has also upgraded the tourism market.

Sanya Phoenix International Airport previously released data showing that during the New Year holiday, it expected 170,000 passengers and 1,110 takeoffs and landings.

Sanya's luxury resort hotels have also become popular choices for young people during the holiday. According to Sanya municipal tourism and culture bureau's sample survey data, from Dec 31, 2021 to Jan 2, the average booking rate of hotels in the city was 78.82 percent, an increase of 9.38 percent year on year.
