Dec 30: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Dec 29, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 207 new cases of confirmed infections (51 imported cases, 17 in Shanghai municipality, 10 in Guangdong province, 4 in Tianjin municipality, 4 in Fujian province, 4 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 4 in Yunnan province, 3 in Zhejiang province, 1 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Shandong province, 1 in Hubei province, 1 in Sichuan province and 1 in Shaanxi province, including 2 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 1 in Tianjin and 1 in Sichuan; 156 indigenous cases, 155 in Xi’an, Shaanxi and 1 in Fangchenggang, Guangxi), 2 new cases of suspected infections (both were imported cases in Shanghai), and no deaths. 59 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 3,882 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases increased by 1.

As of 24:00 on Dec 29, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 11,055 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 10,285 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 770 confirmed cases (including 3 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Dec 29, the National Health Commission had received reports of 101,890 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 94,691 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 2,563 confirmed cases (including 15 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases. 1,418,221 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 51,144 were still under medical observation.

On Dec 29, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 27 new asymptomatic cases (26 imported cases; 1 indigenous case in Pudong New Area, Shanghai). 14 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 13 imported cases) and 2 (imported cases) became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Dec 29, 507 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 477 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Dec 29, 29,660 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 12,618 in Hong Kong (213 had died and 12,191 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 78 in Macao (77 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 16,964 in Taiwan (850 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
