Dec 26: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Dec 25, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 206 new cases of confirmed infections (48 imported cases, 18 in Shanghai municipality, 8 in Tianjin municipality, 5 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 4 in Yunnan province, 4 in Shaanxi province, 3 in Fujian province, 2 in Hunan province, 2 in Guangdong province, 1 in Beijing municipality and 1 in Zhejiang province, including 6 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 3 in Shaanxi, 2 in Guangxi and 1 in Beijing; 158 indigenous cases, 157 in Shaanxi including 155 in Xi’an and 2 in Xianyang, and 1 in Fangchenggang, Guangxi), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 76 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 2,439 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.

As of 24:00 on Dec 25, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 10,894 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 10,173 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 721 confirmed cases (including 3 cases in serious condition) and 3 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Dec 25, the National Health Commission had received reports of 101,077 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 94,430 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 2,011 confirmed cases (including 9 cases in serious condition) and 3 suspected cases. 1,406,467 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 54,407 were still under medical observation.

On Dec 25, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 29 new asymptomatic cases (28 imported cases; 1 indigenous case in Fangchenggang, Guangxi). 11 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 8 imported cases) and 6 (imported cases) became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Dec 25, 504 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 466 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Dec 25, 29,548 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 12,580 in Hong Kong (213 had died and 12,189 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 77 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 16,891 in Taiwan (850 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
