Dec 22: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Dec 21, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 77 new cases of confirmed infections (20 imported cases, 6 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 5 in Shanghai municipality, 4 in Yunnan province, 3 in Guangdong province, 1 in Tianjin municipality and 1 in Zhejiang province, including 2 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 1 in Guangdong and 1 in Guangxi; 57 indigenous cases, 53 in Shaanxi province including 52 in Xi’an and 1 in Xianyang, 2 in Dongguan, Guangdong, 1 in Xiqing district, Tianjin and 1 in Fangchenggang, Guangxi), 2 new cases of suspected infections (both were imported cases in Shanghai), and no deaths. 80 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 2,049 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases increased by 2.

As of 24:00 on Dec 21, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 10,732 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 10,093 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 639 confirmed cases (including 4 cases in serious condition) and 3 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Dec 21, the National Health Commission had received reports of 100,544 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 94,143 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,765 confirmed cases (including 7 cases in serious condition) and 3 suspected cases. 1,394,304 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 55,187 were still under medical observation.

On Dec 21, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 19 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 21 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 19 imported cases) and 2 (imported cases) became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Dec 21, 501 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 463 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Dec 21, 29,444 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 12,541 in Hong Kong (213 had died and 12,184 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 77 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 16,826 in Taiwan (850 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
