Dec 19: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Dec 18, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 83 new cases of confirmed infections (39 imported cases, 14 in Shanghai municipality, 7 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 5 in Guangdong province, 3 in Liaoning province, 3 in Yunnan province, 3 in Gansu province, 2 in Fujian province, 1 in Tianjin municipality and 1 in Sichuan province, including 2 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 1 in Tianjin and 1 in Sichuan; 44 indigenous cases, 31 in Zhejiang province including 25 in Shaoxing and 6 in Ningbo, 10 in Xi’an, Shaanxi province and 3 in Guangdong including 2 in Dongguan and 1 in Guangzhou, including 1 confirmed case converting from an asymptomatic case in Zhejiang), 2 new cases of suspected infections (both were imported cases in Shanghai), and no deaths. 46 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 1,413 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.

As of 24:00 on Dec 18, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 10,623 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 10,049 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 574 confirmed cases (including 4 cases in serious condition) and 5 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Dec 18, the National Health Commission had received reports of 100,284 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 93,963 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,685 confirmed cases (including 6 cases in serious condition) and 5 suspected cases. 1,383,104 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 50,087 were still under medical observation.

On Dec 18, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 41 new asymptomatic cases (37 imported cases; 4 indigenous cases, 3 in Xi’an, Shaanxi and 1 in Hongkou district, Shanghai). 13 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 12 imported cases) and 3 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 2 imported cases). As of 24:00 on Dec 18, 496 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 448 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Dec 18, 29,394 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 12,518 in Hong Kong (213 had died and 12,182 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 77 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 16,799 in Taiwan (849 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
