Dec 5: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Dec 4, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 59 new cases of confirmed infections (17 imported cases, 7 in Yunnan province, 4 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Tianjin municipality, 2 in Liaoning province, 1 in Guangdong province and 1 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, including 2 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 1 in Guangdong and 1 in Yunnan; 42 indigenous cases, 30 in Hulunbuir, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 10 in Harbin, Heilongjiang province and 2 in Dehong Dai and Jingpo autonomous prefecture, Yunnan), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 36 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 990 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.

As of 24:00 on Dec 4, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 10,259 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 9,840 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 419 confirmed cases (including 2 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case.

As of 24:00 on Dec 4, the National Health Commission had received reports of 99,142 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 93,470 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,036 confirmed cases (including 12 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case. 1,336,954 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 34,655 were still under medical observation.

On Dec 4, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 21 new asymptomatic cases (16 imported cases; 5 indigenous cases, 4 in Hulunbuir, Inner Mongolia and 1 in Dehong Dai and Jingpo autonomous prefecture, Yunnan). 9 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 7 imported cases) and 2 (imported cases) became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Dec 4, 459 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 390 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Dec 4, 29,177 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 12,452 in Hong Kong (213 had died and 12,148 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 77 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 16,648 in Taiwan (848 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
