Sanya seeks to build global wedding tourism hub

The 2021 Sanya Global Wedding and Honeymoon Island Forum (GWHI), an important part of the 25th Sanya Tianya Haijiao International Wedding Festival, was held at the Sanya Tianya Haijiao Tourist Area on Nov 29.

Representatives from 21 global wedding and honeymoon islands including Bali, Phuket, the Maldives and Jeju Island participated in the forum to discuss the wedding tourism economy development and trends in global wedding and honeymoon islands in the context of the epidemic.

Mei Kaizhi, general manager of Sanya Tourism Group, said that Sanya is actively seeking to become a global wedding tourism hub trading city and platform city, hoping to learn from global wedding information and high-quality marketing management strategies.

Shi Kangning, chairman of GWHI, suggested that the Sanya wedding tourism industry needs to strengthen its connection with honeymoon islands around the world, improve infrastructure construction, and promote the linkage and development of the global wedding and honeymoon tourism market.

At the forum, Xiao Yang, the chief editor of Travel & Leisure, suggested Sanya increase the marketing of wedding tourism brands, expand the overseas honeymoon tourism market, and strengthen the training and introduction of wedding tourism professionals.

This year's GWHI launched the Sanya GWHI certification standard for the first time and issued certificates to 25 elites in the wedding industry from seven countries around the world. Sanya invites the world's most excellent wedding planners, photographers, makeup artists, florists and wedding hosts to participate in the Sanya GWHI certification.
