The modern Chaozhou Opera production The National Flag in the Deep Mountains debuted at the Guangzhou Friendship Theater in Guangzhou, South China’s Guangdong province, on Nov 27. It depicts the touching life story of a heroine who dedicated her life to bringing education to a remote mountain village.
Originating in Chaoshan, a coastal region in southeastern Guangdong, Chaozhou Opera is a Chinese art form that dates back more than 400 years. It features singing, acting, martial arts and acrobatics.
