Swedish carmaker Volvo made the debut of its C40 Recharge on Friday at the Guangzhou auto show.

The model, which is expected to hit the market in 2022, has a maximum output of 300 kW and a top torque of 660 Nm.

It can accelerate from zero to 100 km/hour in around 5 seconds and has a WLTP range of 420 km on one charge.

The C40 marks the start of Volvo's electrification offensive, said the carmaker.

Volvo unveiled its electrification plan in 2017. It said it has electrified its models across its lineup this year.

The carmaker said it will launch at least one electric model in the market from 2022.

Volvo, which went public earlier this month, expects 50 percent of its sales by 2025 will be electric cars. It will become totally electric by 2030.
