Nov 21: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Nov 20, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 17 new cases of confirmed infections (13 imported cases, 3 in Shanghai municipality, 3 in Guangdong province, 2 in Jiangsu province, 2 in Yunnan province, 1 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Tianjin municipality and 1 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, including 1 confirmed case converting from an asymptomatic case in Guangdong; 4 indigenous cases, 3 in Dalian, Liaoning province and 1 in Dehong Dai and Jingpo autonomous prefecture, Yunnan), 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Shanghai), and no deaths. 77 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 4,384 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.

As of 24:00 on Nov 20, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 9,997 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 9,614 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 383 confirmed cases (including 1 case in serious condition) and 3 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Nov 20, the National Health Commission had received reports of 98,467 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 92,733 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,098 confirmed cases (including 12 cases in serious condition) and 3 suspected cases. 1,301,951 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 32,989 were still under medical observation.

On Nov 20, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 8 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 15 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 13 imported cases) and 1 (imported case) became a confirmed case. As of 24:00 on Nov 20, 479 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 339 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Nov 20, 28,996 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 12,399 in Hong Kong (213 had died and 12,108 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 77 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 16,520 in Taiwan (848 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
