Nov 20: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Nov 19, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 23 new cases of confirmed infections (20 imported cases, 6 in Shanghai municipality, 5 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 4 in Shandong province, 2 in Guangdong province, 2 in Yunnan province and 1 in Fujian province, including 1 confirmed case converting from an asymptomatic case in Guangdong; 3 indigenous cases, 2 in Dalian, Liaoning province and 1 in Jilin, Jilin province), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 71 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 1,889 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 2.

As of 24:00 on Nov 19, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 9,984 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 9,596 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 388 confirmed cases (including 1 case in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Nov 19, the National Health Commission had received reports of 98,450 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 92,656 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,158 confirmed cases (including 12 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases. 1,301,242 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 36,664 were still under medical observation.

On Nov 19, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 16 new asymptomatic cases (15 imported cases; 1 indigenous case in Lanzhou, Gansu province). 27 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 22 imported cases) and 1 (imported case) became a confirmed case. As of 24:00 on Nov 19, 487 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 345 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Nov 19, 28,989 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 12,396 in Hong Kong (213 had died and 12,106 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 77 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 16,516 in Taiwan (848 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
