General Motors' luxury arm Cadillac started pre-sales of its first pure electric model in China at prices starting at 439,700 yuan ($68,860) on Wednesday.

The Lyriq SUV is the first mass-produced model in China based on GM's pure electric platform, Ultium, which combines GM's experience and techniques in electrification of 26 years.

The new car has a class-leading 3,094 millimeter wheelbase and is 5,003 mm in length. It features a 33-inch Organic Light-Emitting Diode screen equipped with Qualcomm’s flagship 8155 microchip.

The model has a maximum output of 255 kilowatts and a top torque of 440 Newton meters, with a range of 650 kilometers.

The Lyriq allows DC fast charging and is equipped with a wireless connected battery management system. It can offer a 96 km range within 10 minutes using fast-charging mode.

The carmaker said it will launch another version of the Lyriq that can accelerate from 0-100 km per hour within 4.9 seconds.

According to Cadillac, it received more than 1,000 orders within one hour. The new model will be delivered to customers by the middle of 2022.
