Sino-Japanese joint venture FAW-Toyota launched its latest SUV Harrier on Thursday, with its prices ranging from 211,800 yuan to 297,800 yuan.

The model is expected to become a new growth driver and help FAW-Toyota scale up its sales in the country.

The Harrier, produced at the carmaker’s plant in Changchun, Jilin province, is available in seven variants. Four of them are gasoline ones, and three are hybrids.

The Harrier is built based on Toyota’s TNGA-K platform. It has a lighter and more rigid body and a maximum output of 163 kW.

Its powertrain options have enabled it to cut fuel consumption. A 2.0-liter gasoline car consumes 6.0 liters of gasoline per 100 km and the consumption is as low as 4.5 liters for hybrids.

Inside the cabin, the model has a dual-12.3-inch dashboard as well as cutting-edge facial recognition and voice command features.

FAW-Toyota is one of the mainstream carmakers in the country. It has sold 9 million vehicles since its establishment.
