Oct 29: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Oct 28, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 64 new cases of confirmed infections (16 imported cases, 4 in Guangdong province, 3 in Shanghai municipality, 3 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 2 in Zhejiang province, 2 in Yunnan province, 1 in Beijing municipality and 1 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, including 5 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 2 in Zhejiang, 2 in Guangdong and 1 in Guangxi; 48 indigenous cases, 19 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region including 18 in Alshaa League and 1 in Xiliin Gol League, 12 in Gansu province including 10 in Lanzhou and 2 in Zhangye, 9 in Heihe, Heilongjiang province, 3 in Xining, Qinghai province, 2 in Changping district, Beijing, 2 in Yinchuan, Ningxia Hui autonomous region, 1 in Dehong Dai and Jingpo autonomous prefecture, Yunnan, including 3 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases in Heilongjiang), 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Shanghai), and no deaths. 22 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 837 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases increased by 5.

As of 24:00 on Oct 28, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 9,562 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 9,187 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 375 confirmed cases (including 1 case in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Oct 28, the National Health Commission had received reports of 97,002 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 91,665 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 701 confirmed cases (including 38 cases in serious condition) and 3 suspected cases. 1,244,628 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 42,199 were still under medical observation.

On Oct 28, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 23 new asymptomatic cases (20 imported cases; 3 indigenous cases in Rizhao, Shandong province). 13 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 12 imported cases) and 8 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 5 imported cases). As of 24:00 on Oct 28, 410 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 369 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Oct 28, 28,808 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 12,337 in Hong Kong (213 had died and 12,033 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 77 in Macao (72 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 16,394 in Taiwan (847 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
