Mulan Paddock Bashang Grasslands
木兰围场坝上草原
At an altitude between 1,400 to 1,700 meters, the Mulan Paddock Bashang Grasslands are located in the Weichang Manchu and Mongolian autonomous county in Chengde city of Hebei province. A part of the imperial paddock of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), they were where the imperial court of the dynasty held autumnal hunting and recreational activities for more than 100 years.
The grasslands feature pleasant scenery for all seasons with charming landscapes of meadows, lakes, rivers and forests. The Saihanba National Forest Park shines on the grasslands like a bright pearl and plays a crucial role in improving the ecology of northern China. Having a monsoon climate, the grasslands enjoy a cool and fresh summer every year with the highest temperature usually lower than 25 degrees C. Boasting rich natural resources, the Mulan Paddock Bashang Grasslands also nurture abundant animal species.
