Startup Hycan launches new crossover

Chinese electric carmaker Hycan launched its second model, the Z03 crossover, on Monday.

The model, available in four variants, is priced from 132,800 yuan ($22,670) to 168,800 yuan.

The Z03 measures 4,602 mm long, 1,900 mm wide and 1,645 mm tall, with its wheelbase spanning 2,750 mm.

The compact crossover features a 10.25-inch digital instrument panel and a 14.6-inch console-mounted touch screen.

There are two battery options: a 64.6kWh battery pack, which gives the model a range of 510 km and a 76.8 kWh pack that offers a 620 km range.

Hycan said the Z03 will have a third battery pack that will enable the vehicle to run for 800 km, which is expected to be put into volume production in 2022.

The carmaker is developing a new retail business model by deploying both online e-commerce platforms and physical sales outlets.

As of now, the automaker has launched 107 retail outlets in 66 cities. The figure is expected to reach 150 in 87 cities across the country by the end of this year.
