Oct 3: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Oct 2, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 28 new cases of confirmed infections (26 imported cases, 9 in Yunnan province, 7 in Shanghai municipality, 4 in Fujian province, 3 in Guangdong province, 1 in Liaoning province, 1 in Jilin province and 1 in Shandong province, including 2 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 1 in Liaoning and 1 in Guangdong; 2 indigenous cases, 1 in Harbin, Heilongjiang province and 1 in Xiamen, Fujian), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 50 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 1,223 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.

As of 24:00 on Oct 2, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 9,114 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 8,604 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 510 confirmed cases (including 2 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Oct 2, the National Health Commission had received reports of 96,231 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 90,727 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 868 confirmed cases (including 4 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 1,200,786 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 27,956 were still under medical observation.

On Oct 2, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 15 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 19 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and 2 (imported cases) became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Oct 2, 346 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 335 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Oct 2, 28,541 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 12,226 in Hong Kong (213 had died and 11,909 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 71 in Macao (64 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 16,244 in Taiwan (843 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
