Oct 2: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Oct 1, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 41 new cases of confirmed infections (39 imported cases, 14 in Yunnan province, 9 in Shanghai municipality, 4 in Hunan province, 3 in Tianjin municipality, 3 in Guangdong province, 2 in Henan province, 1 in Liaoning province, 1 in Zhejiang province, 1 in Sichuan province and 1 in Shaanxi province, including 10 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 4 in Hunan, 2 in Henan, 2 in Guangdong, 1 in Tianjin and 1 in Sichuan; 2 indigenous cases in Harbin, Heilongjiang province), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 43 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 520 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.

As of 24:00 on Oct 1, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 9,088 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 8,585 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 503 confirmed cases (including 2 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Oct 1, the National Health Commission had received reports of 96,203 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 90,677 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 890 confirmed cases (including 4 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 1,200,303 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 28,697 were still under medical observation.

On Oct 1, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 19 new asymptomatic cases (17 imported cases; 2 indigenous cases, 1 in Harbin, Heilongjiang and 1 in Dehong Dai and Jingpo autonomous prefecture, Yunnan). 16 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 14 imported cases) and 10 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (all were imported cases). As of 24:00 on Oct 1, 352 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 341 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Oct 1, 28,526 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 12,221 in Hong Kong (213 had died and 11,906 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 71 in Macao (64 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 16,234 in Taiwan (843 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
