As a World Heritage site in the southwestern city of Chongqing, the Dazu Rock Carvings are outstanding examples of grotto art spanning some 1,000 years from the Tang Dynasty (618-907) to the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) .
The National Museum of China in Beijing is showcasing 82 carvings and photos, such as statues of the dignified and elegant Avalokitesvara (Guanyin), merciful and solemn Buddhas, and intricately patterned incense burners, to introduce the Dazu Rock Carvings to visitors.
