Sept 21: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Sept 20, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 72 new cases of confirmed infections (30 imported cases, 12 in Yunnan province, 6 in Shanghai municipality, 3 in Jiangsu province, 3 in Guangdong province, 2 in Heilongjiang province, 2 in Zhejiang province and 2 in Fujian province, including 4 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 2 in Zhejiang, 1 in Fujian and 1 in Guangdong; 42 indigenous cases in Fujian, 36 in Xiamen, 5 in Putian and 1 in Quanzhou), 2 new cases of suspected infections (both were imported cases in Shanghai), and no deaths. 34 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 241 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. As of 24:00 on Sept 20, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 8,843 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 8,302 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 541 confirmed cases (including 5 cases in serious condition) and 4 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Sept 20, the National Health Commission had received reports of 95,810 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 90,194 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 980 confirmed cases (including 12 cases in serious condition) and 4 suspected cases. 1,180,972 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 16,206 were still under medical observation.

On Sept 20, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 13 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 14 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and 4 (imported cases) became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Sept 20, 349 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 340 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Sept 20, 28,375 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 12,165 in Hong Kong (213 had died and 11,874 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 63 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 16,147 in Taiwan (840 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
