Sept 20: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Sept 19, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 49 new cases of confirmed infections (21 imported cases, 9 in Yunnan province, 4 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Zhejiang province, 2 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 2 in Sichuan province, 1 in Fujian province and 1 in Shandong province, including 3 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 2 in Zhejiang and 1 in Guangxi; 28 indigenous cases in Fujian, 16 in Xiamen, 7 in Putian and 5 in Quanzhou), 2 new cases of suspected infections (both were imported cases in Shanghai), and no deaths. 34 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 626 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases increased by 1.

As of 24:00 on Sept 19, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 8,813 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 8,272 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 541 confirmed cases (including 5 cases in serious condition) and 3 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Sept 19, the National Health Commission had received reports of 95,738 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 90,160 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 942 confirmed cases (including 10 cases in serious condition) and 3 suspected cases. 1,180,253 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 15,730 were still under medical observation.

On Sept 19, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 13 new asymptomatic cases (12 imported cases and 1 indigenous case in Dehong Dai and Jingpo autonomous prefecture, Yunnan). 21 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 20 imported cases) and 3 (imported cases) became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Sept 19, 354 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 345 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Sept 19, 28,364 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 12,160 in Hong Kong (213 had died and 11,872 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 63 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 16,141 in Taiwan (840 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
