The Elegant Retreat: Figure Paintings from Across the Ages (second rotation) is on in the Gallery of Painting and Calligraphy at the Hall of Literary Brilliance (Wenhua dian) of the Palace Museum. Seventy-six precious figure paintings from the museum collection present the secluded life and spiritual pursuits of ancient Chinese intelligentsia.
