Summer arts festival wraps up in Beijing

During the second half of the show, ballet dancers of the company performed classic ballet works, such as the first act from Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake, the grand pas de deux of the third act from the ballet Coppelia, and the fourth act of the original Chinese ballet The Red Detachment of Women.

Having established itself as one of Beijing's biggest arts festivals for children during the summer vacation since 1995, the annual Gateway to Arts 2021 Summer Festival kicked off on July 4 and ran through Aug 31. This year, 69 live performances and 10 public lectures were held over 59 days.

According to Xu Jian, the organizer of the art festival, it has been the goal of the arts festival to offer children an opportunity to get to know and enjoy art during their summer vacation.
