Aug 30: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Aug 29, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 23 new cases of confirmed infections (all were imported cases, 9 in Guangdong province, 5 in Shanghai municipality, 3 in Yunnan province, 2 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Shanxi province, 1 in Zhejiang province, 1 in Fujian province and 1 in Shandong province), 4 new cases of suspected infections (all were imported cases, 3 in Shanghai and 1 in Beijing municipality), and no deaths. 107 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 2,446 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 2.

As of 24:00 on Aug 29, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 8,284 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 7,660 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 624 confirmed cases (including 6 cases in serious condition) and 4 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Aug 29, the National Health Commission had received reports of 94,842 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 89,031 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,175 confirmed cases (including 7 cases in serious condition) and 4 suspected cases. 1,162,043 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 22,529 were still under medical observation.

On Aug 29, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 24 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 23 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 13 imported cases) and 4 (imported cases) became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Aug 29, 443 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 381 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Aug 29, 28,153 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 12,107 in Hong Kong (212 had died and 11,783 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 63 in Macao (60 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 15,983 in Taiwan (834 had died and 13,673 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
