Sino-Japanese joint venture FAW-Toyota launched the Crown Kluger in Dunhuang, Northwest China's Gansu province, on Aug 27.
The seven-seat SUV, available in six variants, is priced from 275,800 yuan ($42,611) to 350,800 yuan.
The Crown, unveiled in 1955, had been a high-end model in Toyota's product portfolio. Now it has spun off into a sub-brand of FAW-Toyota, with the arrival of the flagship SUV Kluger.
The Kluger has a body that extends over 5 meters, with a 2,850 mm wheelbase, thus ensuring spaciousness in the cabin.
The Kluger sports Toyota's latest hybrid system, which has heat efficiency up to 41 percent. It has a comprehensive output of 183 kW.
Such features as Toyota Safety Sense come as standard. Other things such as the head-up display and voice command are available as well.
FAW-Toyota expects the arrival of such models as the Kluger will help it to reach the sales target of 1 million units in 2022. It delivered around 800,000 units in 2020.
