Nowadays, you can rarely find an extant painting on paper or silk dating back to the Tang Dynasty (618-907), but Tang tomb murals last. Visit the Shaanxi History Museum and admire the tomb murals of the short-lived Prince Yide Li Chongrun (682-701), the eldest son of Emperor Zhongzong (r. 705-710).

The murals on the east and west sides of the tomb corridor depict three folds of the palatial gate towers (que), reflecting the high-level painting skills of the Tang Dynasty.
