Wuxi's cultural tourism projects to get national support

The protection, inheritance and utilization efforts of four cultural tourism projects in Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province will receive national support during the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) period, according to a list released by the National Development and Reform Commission recently.

A total of 22 cultural tourism projects in Jiangsu province, including the protection and restoration project of Huishan Cunqian town, as well as the basic infrastructure construction of Dangkou Ancient Town, Chong'an Temple Pedestrian Street and Yangxian Eco-tourism Resort, were on the list.

According to the National Development and Reform Commission, during the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) period, the central budget will focus on supporting the construction of national cultural parks, the protection of national key cultural relics, archaeological excavations, the protection and display of national parks and other important natural heritages, and the construction of major tourism infrastructure and key public cultural facilities.

Work will be carried out to further improve the national urban and rural public cultural service system, enhance the protection level of cultural and natural heritage, and promote the in-depth integration and high-quality development of cultural tourism. By 2025, the construction of national cultural parks such as the Grand Canal, the Great Wall, the Long March and the Yellow River will be completed, according to officials.

The protection and restoration project of Huishan Cunqian town is part of the construction of the Jiangsu Grand Canal National Cultural Park. A number of cultural preservation units and ancient buildings on the town will be restored.
