Aug 14: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Aug 13, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 66 new cases of confirmed infections (36 imported cases, 11 in Fujian province, 5 in Shanghai municipality, 5 in Yunnan province, 4 in Shandong province, 4 in Sichuan province, 3 in Guangdong province, 2 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Liaoning province and 1 in Shaanxi province; 30 indigenous cases, 18 in Jiangsu province, 4 in Henan province, 4 in Hubei province, 3 in Hunan province and 1 in Yunnan), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 43 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 4,953 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.

As of 24:00 on Aug 13, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 7,845 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 7,106 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 739 confirmed cases (including 10 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case.

As of 24:00 on Aug 13, the National Health Commission had received reports of 94,326 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 87,783 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,907 confirmed cases (including 62 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases. 1,144,391 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 46,044 were still under medical observation.

On Aug 13, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 19 new asymptomatic cases (18 imported cases; 1 indigenous case in Hunan). 24 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 22 imported cases) and 7 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 4 imported cases). As of 24:00 on Aug 13, 487 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 383 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Aug 13, 27,929 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 12,030 in Hong Kong (212 had died and 11,736 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 63 in Macao (57 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 15,836 in Taiwan (819 had died and 13,142 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
