Aug 13: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Aug 12, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 99 new cases of confirmed infections (52 imported cases, 17 in Henan province, 9 in Guangdong province, 9 in Yunnan province, 7 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 5 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Sichuan province, 1 in Liaoning province, 1 in Shandong province and 1 in Shaanxi province; 47 indigenous cases, 26 in Jiangsu province, 14 in Henan, 4 in Hubei province, 2 in Hunan province and 1 in Yunnan), 1 new case of suspected infections (an indigenous case in Henan), and no deaths. 51 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 3,716 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases increased by 2.

As of 24:00 on Aug 12, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 7,809 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 7,076 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 733 confirmed cases (including 12 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Aug 12, the National Health Commission had received reports of 94,260 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 87,740 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,884 confirmed cases (including 62 cases in serious condition) and 3 suspected cases. 1,141,584 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 48,244 were still under medical observation.

On Aug 12, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 34 new asymptomatic cases (29 imported cases; 5 indigenous cases, 3 in Hubei and 2 in Henan). 13 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and 33 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 20 imported cases). As of 24:00 on Aug 12, 499 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 391 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Aug 12, 27,908 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 12,025 in Hong Kong (212 had died and 11,733 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 63 in Macao (57 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 15,820 in Taiwan (817 had died and 13,121 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
